My lessons are designed for students of all ages and skill levels, whether you're a beginner taking your first steps into piano and music theory or an advanced player looking to refine your skills.
I teach students of all ages, from young children to adults, including those with learning disabilities such as ADHD and autism. For children under 5 years old, a parent or guardian must be present for the entire lesson to support their learning experience.
Yes, students must have access to a full-sized acoustic piano or a weighted keyboard (88 keys preferred, minimum 61 keys) to participate in lessons. If you’re unsure about specific models or have concerns, we can discuss these during the free trial lesson to ensure the instrument meets your needs.
I teach classical, contemporary, and popular music, tailoring lessons to align with each student’s preferred style, goals, and interests. This personalised approach ensures an engaging and enjoyable learning experience.
Yes, I offer AMEB exam preparation for both piano and music theory, guiding students toward achieving their qualifications. Additionally, I have experience with Trinity examinations for both performance and comprehensive piano, which adds to my ability to prepare students for a range of assessment styles. I am willing to learn about other examinations if AMEB or Trinity are not preferred.
No prior experience is needed. Lessons are tailored to meet the individual needs and skill level of each student.
To book a lesson, please reach out via email or phone, and we’ll discuss availability and lesson preferences. During the free trial lesson, we can decide together whether to proceed with casual lessons or a weekly schedule, ensuring the arrangement suits your goals and lifestyle.
Online lessons are conducted via Zoom or another video platform. They’re ideal for students who prefer to learn from home or live outside the local area.
Lessons start online to ensure a safe and comfortable introduction for both the student and teacher, particularly since in-person lessons are conducted at the student’s home. While online learning may not be the traditional approach for music, this initial phase allows us to establish trust and rapport. Once both the teacher and student feel comfortable, transitioning to in-person lessons can be discussed and arranged if still wanted.
While sticking to either online or in-person lessons is preferable for consistency, exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances, such as illness or scheduling conflicts, if discussed in advance.
Students are encouraged to practice at least 30 minutes, five days a week, for consistent progress. However, I understand this may not always be feasible, especially for younger students or those with demanding schedules. My priority is that students practice as much as they can and are honest about their efforts, as this helps us work together to achieve their goals effectively.
You are welcome to purchase your own books if you prefer, but I can also purchase them on your behalf and simply add the cost to your next invoice.
